Halo 3 is a video game first person shooter developed by Bungie Studios exclusively for the Xbox 360. The game is the third title in a series that began with Halo: Combat Evolved and continued with Halo 2. [2] The game was released on September 25, 2007 in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, India, Mexico, Canada , Brazil, Colombia and the United States, [1] on September 26, 2007 in Europe and September 27, 2007 in Japan. One day before the official release of 4.2 million Halo 3 units were put into circulation [3].

Halo 3 focuses on the interstellar war between 25th century humanity, led by the United Nations Space Command, and a group of alien races known as the Covenant, who after a decades-long war have begun an invasion of Earth . The player assumes the role of Master Chief, a genetically enhanced super-soldier involved in the defense of humanity, accompanied by the Marines as an alien race called Elites, led by the Arbiter. The game features vehicles, weapons and gameplay ever seen in previous installments of the series [4].

The impact of the game was enormous raising $ 300 million dollars in its first week sales, [5] and putting a million people playing Halo 3 on Xbox Live twenty hours after its release. [6] As of January 3 2008 has been sold more than 8.1 million copies, [7] becoming the best selling video game of 2007 in the United States. [8] The general reception was very good by the critics, highlighting some points their way Multiplayer Game Rankings and placed him in seventh place as the games with better rankings for the Xbox 360 to date. [9] This left an alternate history titled Halo 3: ODST, was launched on October 12, 2009 [10] that does not require Halo 3 to play.
